 and this body that fell on the battlefield the sacrifice of one so Young’s life and all the millions who through time stood up to forces for what they felt was right we lay flowers at those graves we honor the life they gave we bow our heads and pray that more will not have to die this way and one day peace will come and the veterans look back at what was done and try in vain to overcome the ghosts that haunt the surviving ones and this day when flowers are laid can remind us of the price we pay when we send our young to war and look at what the sacrifices were for We say thank you for the life you gave But How do we make sense of the ultimate price they paid So we lay flowers on these graves And a flag that waves on Memorial Day
