let's give our ego a spot light to take
for it has a need for a lead role to play
this inner child that can’t explain
what it needs to get what it craves

and mercy really has a place
for the ego battles from an empty space
this screaming child that wants its way
such an unhappy tyrant that wants it say

and what’s behind that mask we wear
that hides our feelings and despair
that never can really share
the emptiness of egos warfare

should ego be our middle name
or is that too blatant to proclaim
for we all have these egos
that we live with and learn to tame

so when our ego starts to speak
and in veiled words that say love me please
in spite of how ridiculous It seems
we can call out the drama
and claim responsibility
and let go and set our ego free

so Christ we really seek
your aid and lots of mercy please
our egos demands will only be released
when we ask to turn our will over to thee
